About Play Rescue

Welcome to Play Rescue, the online magazine about the daily life with the rescue animals at Odsherred Zoo Rescue, Denmark's first and only zoo and Exotic Animal Rescue Center. Our foundation is dedicated to providing a permanent home for animals in need, particularly those from exotic and endangered species. We are passionate about animal welfare, conservation, and education, and through our efforts, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of these remarkable creatures.

Our Story: Odsherred Zoo Rescue was founded by my family, driven by a deep love and respect for animals. Inspired by the need to address the growing issues of animal testing, illegal pet trade, and neglect, we embarked on a mission to create a sanctuary where animals could find refuge and care. With unwavering dedication, we have transformed our vision into a reality, providing a safe haven for over 600 animals.

Our Mission: At Odsherred Zoo Rescue, our primary mission is to offer a permanent home to animals that have faced adversity and mistreatment. We rescue animals from various backgrounds, including those rescued from research laboratories, confiscated from illegal trade, or removed from private individuals and smaller zoos. Our focus extends beyond providing a safe environment; we are committed to rehabilitating and nurturing these animals, ensuring they receive the physical and emotional care they deserve.

Conservation and Education: We believe that education is the key to creating a more compassionate and sustainable future for animals and the environment. Through our rescue center, we actively participate in conservation programs, collaborate with international partners, and engage with schools, communities, and wildlife organizations to raise awareness about the importance of conservation efforts. We strive to inspire others to take action and make informed choices that protect and preserve our natural world.
